Yinan Zhao, violinist and doctoral student, is currently studying at the Central Conservatory of Music and the Stauffer Academy, under the guidance of Prof. Zhang Ti and Maestro Salvatore Accardo.
Zhao began studying the violin at the age of four. He received his early training at the Affiliated High School of the Central Conservatory of Music with Xue Wei and Zhang Jia, and entered the Conservatory’s undergraduate program in 2017. In 2021, he was recommended for admission to the master’s program, and since 2016 he has continued to study with Zhang Ti, receiving several scholarships during his studies.
He has participated in masterclasses with Christoph Poppen, Martin Beaver, Ulf Hoelscher, Yair Kless, Gong Hanxiang, and Hu Kun.
Zhao has received awards in several international competitions. In 2023, he won First Prize and the Ysaye Award at the Belgium Ysaye International Music Competition, and the Grand Prize at the Enkor International Violin Competition. He also received Fourth Prize at the 19th Khachaturian International Violin Competition and was a semifinalist at the 20th Khachaturian and the 74th Viotti International Competitions.
As both a soloist and chamber musician, Zhao has performed at the Beijing International Chamber Music Festival, the Baroque Music Festival, and the CCOM String Festival. He is a member of the “Cube Ensemble,” collaborating with pipa player Zhao Cong, and has performed at venues such as the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing Concert Hall, Shanghai Symphony Hall, Zhongshan Concert Hall, Central Opera House, Qintai Concert Hall, and Liège Royal Philharmonic Hall. He has appeared with orchestras including the Central Opera House Symphony Orchestra, the Armenian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra.
Zhao continues to develop his performance career while pursuing his doctoral studies in Beijing, performing a range of repertoire as a soloist and chamber musician.
