The German-Spanish violinist Sara Schlumberger-Ruiz, born in Stuttgart in 2001, has been thrilling audiences for years with her “round and full tone” as well as her “lyrical, delicate beauty of sound and effortless virtuosity” (Schwäbisches Tagesblatt, October 2025). She is distinguished by her versatility as a soloist, orchestral musician, and chamber musician, with a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music.
She began her studies with Prof. Anke Dill at the HMDK Stuttgart and has been continuing them since October 2022 in the class of Prof. Nora Chastain at the University of the Arts Berlin.
Impulses from Ingolf Turban, Yair and Eyal Kless, Adelina Oprean, Boris Kuschnir, Boris Garlitsky and Shlomo Mintz represent an important part of her musical development.
Sara has been awarded various first, second, and special prizes at various solo and chamber music competitions. In 2024, she was awarded the “Gewa Special Prize” by the Carl Flesch Academy, and most recently she won a concert scholarship at the 2025 German Music Competition, which will be promoted in the 2026/27 season. Sara is a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk as well as the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now."
She has been a guest at the European Cultural Forum, the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, the Ravel Festival (France), the “Musik an der Tonstrasse” festival, the Resonanzräume festival and the Mozart Society Stuttgart, the Crescendo Festival Berlin and the Enescu Festival (Bucharest/Romania). Her chamber music partners include Itamar Golan, Leonid Gorokhov, Anke Dill, Florian Wiek, Stefan Fehland, Justus Grimm, and Moritz Winkelmann.
Sara Schlumberger-Ruiz plays a violin by “Jean Baptiste Vuillaume, circa 1874,” which has been generously made available to her by the Landessammlung Baden-Württemberg.
