Wooyoung Cho was born in June 2000 in Seoul, South Korea. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the New England Conservatory under Professor Wha Kyung Byun. She previously earned her Bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University, where she studied with Professor Haeesung Joo, and has also received guidance from distinguished mentors such as Chungmo Kang, Eun Jung Sohn, and Kyung-ah Kim.
In 2025, she was awarded the 1st prize in the HKGNA International Music Competition. She was also selected to advance to the Live Screening Auditions of the Seventeenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
In 2024, Wooyoung reached the quarterfinals of the Leeds International Piano Competition, her first major international competition, placing among the top 24 competitors. That same year, she won the Promising Star Competition at the International Maestro Piano Festival in Taiwan, which led to an invitation to give a recital at UCSI University in Malaysia. In January 2025, she performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra at one of Taiwan’s most prestigious venues.

Wooyoung began studying piano at age seven and entered formal training as a piano major at twelve. Her musical development took a significant leap in 2016 when she made her debut performing with the Berlin Chamber Music Orchestra at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. This experience shaped her artistic direction and encouraged her pursuit of an international career.
Since then, she has participated in numerous music festivals and workshops worldwide, including the International Maestro Piano Festival, the Edward Auer Workshop, the Amalfi Coast Music Festival, and Poland’s BelEur ICPA.
In Korea, Wooyoung has given two acclaimed solo recitals: the Kumho Young Artist Concert (Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation Audition) and the Kumho Young Prodigy Concert. Her achievements have also been recognized through prizes in several major national competitions.
