Maria Matshkalyan is a violinist from Armenia, currently based in Madrid. She began her violin studies at the age of seven and has since developed a strong artistic profile through studies and performances across Europe.
She is currently completing her Master’s degree at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, studying with Marco Rizzi and Sergey Teslya. Maria previously earned her Bachelor’s degree from the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory under the guidance of Karen Shahgaldyan.
As part of the Erasmus+ program, she continued her studies at the Zagreb Music Academy with Leonid Sorokow.
Maria has performed in Armenia, France, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Spain, and Italy. She has appeared as a soloist with the Armenian National Symphony Orchestra and participated in international festivals, including the New Names International Festival of Young Performers. She is also active in chamber music, performing in various ensemble settings such as trios, quartets, quintets, and septets.
