Kang Kai was admitted to Shenzhen Arts School in 2019. He began studying with Professor Tao Ran at the age of 12 and was admitted to Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in 2023, where he currently studies under Professor Dong Dejun.
His competitive achievements include:
First Prize at the 4th Hong Kong International Music Festival (2017)
Gold Medal at the IMAARTS Music Festival City Selection Competition (2020)
Second Prize in the Professional Group A of the 2nd National Youth Online Clarinet Competition (2022)
Honorary Gold Medal in the Professional Solo Group E of the Singapore International Instrumental Solo & Ensemble Competition (2022)
First Prize in the Junior Group B of the 2023 Clara Schumann International Music Competition
First Prize in the Ensemble Group of the 2024 Canadian Royal Voice International Music Competition
First Prize at the 2024 Encore International Music Competition
In 2024, he was selected into the Li Shutong Academy Elite Talent Training Program at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. From September 2024 to June 2025, he pursued an exchange program at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Vigo (Spain), where he graduated with double honorary full marks (the only recipient in the program) under the tutelage of Professors Esteban Valverde, Asterio Leiva, and Libertad García.
