Since her debut as a soloist at the age of 15 with the State Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Arieta Liatsi has been performing with orchestras including the Salzburg Soloists Orchestra, the University Orchestra Mainz, and the Casalmaggiore International Festival Orchestra. She has been invited to participate as a young soloist in music festivals, including Musiktage Mondsee, Attergauer Kultursommer, Klassik im Burghof, Kitzbüheler Sommerkonzerte, Bragança ClassicFest and Festival dos Capuchos. In February 2024, she made her solo debut at the Megaron Concert Hall in Athens, performing works by H.W. Ernst and C. Franck, while a highlight of last season was her series of seven concerts with
the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, where she performed Ravel’s Tzigane in celebration of the composer’s 150th anniversary.
Arieta has won numerous awards in competitions across Greece, including first prizes at the “Maria
Herogiorgou-Sigara,” “Bachauer Junior,” 40th Panhellenic Musical Competition “PHILON,” and “Tasos Pappas” competitions. She was also a finalist at the “Classic Pure Vienna International Music Competition.” In 2023, she was the winner of the Kaloy Foundation’s “Listening to the Youth” competition, which granted her multiple concert engagements and recording opportunities, firmly establishing her as an emerging artist in the Greek music scene. Most recently, Arieta was honored with the Paul Roczek Award 2024 by the Mozarteum University of Salzburg.
Born in 2001 in Thessaloniki, Greece, Arieta began violin lessons at the age of six at the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki, where she earned her violin diploma (distinction and 1st prize) under the guidance of Andreas Papanikolaou and Iren Topouria. She continued her studies at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg with Prof. Benjamin Schmid, completing her Bachelor’s degree in 2023 and currently pursuing her Master’s degree under Benjamin Schmid and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, supported by several scholarships from the university.
She regularly participates in festivals, such as Casalmaggiore International Festival, Hellensmusic, Encuentro de Música de Santander, Kalamata International Music Days and Verão Clássico (2nd prize), and performs next to acclaimed musicians, including Julien Quentin, Benjamin Schmid, Bruno Delepelaire, Matthias Bartolomey and Ariane Haering. Aside from her formal studies she has attended masterclasses by renowned violinists including Leonidas Kavakos, Christoph Poppen, Josef Špaček, Mischa Maisky, Jonian Ilias Kadesha, Pablo Hernan Benedi, Ilya Grubert, Stephan Picard, Kurt Nikkanen, Noe Inui and George Demertzis. Arieta is performing regularly around the world, including Greece, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Poland, Japan and the United Kingdom.
From 2021 to 2024, she was a founding member of Trio Callas, performing internationally and excelling in major chamber music competitions. Currently, she is an active member of the Mozarteum Kammerorchester and serves as concertmaster in the ARCO Ensemble that specializes in contemporary music.
